Removing the Wood Sheathing
- Snap parallel lines on both sides of the peak 1 ½” down from the center of the ridge.
- Mark the end of the slot your about to cut, 12" in from each end of the ridge.
- With a utility knife, cut out the shingles within this marked area and remove any tar paper as well as the rest of the shingle scrap. Pull all nails in the way of the cutting blade. You are now ready to cut through the wood sheathing.
- Set the power saw's blade depth to be able to completely cut through the sheathing but not cutting the rafters below (about 7/16" to 1" depending on the thickness of the sheathing) and create the slot by cutting through the sheathing along each chalk line on either side of the peak.
- Remove the wood and other debris from the slot. You are now ready to install the ridge vents.

- Using a utility knife, cut the last piece of Channel Vent to the proper length.
